The Makeup Brush Cleanse.

Cleaning my makeup brushes is, quite frankly, the most arduous task I've ever had to do. In fact, I hate it so much that it can take me up to 4 weeks in between washes because I keep putting it off and putting it off. I know - bad Lauren.
It's just so dull and tiring, and by the fifth brush I've lost all faith and my back is in constant protest from bending over the sink. Is it bad that I actually have to psyche myself out to wash my brushes? probably.
Anyway, I thought I'd share the way I wash mine - it's nothing special, but it's got to be done.

1. I wet the chosen brush thoroughly with lukewarm water, making sure all the bristles are damp.

2. Taking any shower gel that I happen to be using - usually it's Soap & Glory or something from The Body Shop - I squirt a little into my hand and swirl the brush in it, working it into a lather. I'm still on the fence about using an actual shampoo designed for brush cleaning, I used baby shampoo for the longest time. As long as you thoroughly wash it out and make sure you let them dry properly, I'd say anything goes.

3. I then repeatedly swirl in the water and the soap until the brush is entirely clean. I usually clean my foundation brushes (my denser ones) twice to make sure.

4. I lie them flat on a towel and let them dry, switching them over after a few hours.

For spot cleaning - which I tend to reserve for eyeshadow brushes only, I don't like to spot clean my foundation brushes as a rule - the Makeup Revolution Pro Hygiene Antibacterial Brush Cleaner is great, and it's cheap.

  3. I absolutely love cleaning my make up brushes and although I don't do it as often as I should, I love it when I do it. I just use a Herbal Essences shampoo and it seems to do the job! :)
